California Motorists' BILL OF RIGHTS states that...
Effective January 1, 2004, SB551: SECTION 1. Section 758.5 of the California State Insurance Code states... "...an
insurance company may not suggest or recommend that your vehicle be
repaired at a specific automotive repair dealer unless a referral has
been expressly requested; and the claimant has been informed in writing
of the right to select the repair dealer of their choice. Once a
claimant has specified a repair dealer to repair their vehicle an
insurance company may not suggest or recommend that the claimant select
a different automotive repair dealer...."
Your
insurance carrier is also required to provide you with this notice in
writing at the time they assess your vehicle’s damage.
Important Notice!
Insurance companies may offer you repair facilities other than
Sonshine Auto Body
because Sonshine Auto Body is not currently involved in their direct repair program.
They may say to you that if you do not use one of the shops on their program
they will not guarantee the repairs. However, insurance companies do not repair cars.
A guarantee for
repairs for as long as you own your vehicle is what you should look for in a quality and
reputable repair shop.
